“Gratitude to Leonard Cohen”. For more than five decades the music and poetry of Leonard Cohen has filled me with the deepest happiness and gratitude. The first time I heard his songs was on Swedish television in the late 60s. He performed “Suzanne” on the “Julie Felix show”.
I experienced an immediate sense of belonging. There was something completely unique in the way Cohen mixed poetry and melancholy in his songs. Since then, he has been like a companion in my life.
“The thinnest thread”. To be able to experience love is to me the greatest gift of all. The title song is a celebration of love, but also about never taking love for granted. No matter how sure or fantastic it may feel.
This album is a journey through the landscape of love. It starts with delight and happiness, takes us through darkness and despair, and ends with a sense of comfort, I would hope.
The album "Ancient traces" has a country rock feeling about it, I would say, with drums, piano, electric bass and guitar in the setup. Otherwise it is some kind of conclusion of what has been scribbled over and over again by so many and also by me in the three previous albums.
The question arises in our lives: "What is worthwhile?" An answer could be: "Go for love, if you have the opportunity." And we do have the opportunity. "Pay the price for love". It is always worth it. "Recognize love", it is everywhere to be unfolded. Because in the end, as Tom Waits and Kathleen Brennan puts it: "All that you've loved is all you own".
